“Hi Grandma!” Sophie said as she entered the bakery. “Do you have…” Stopping immediately after she walked in, Sophie looked at Grace in horror. Frozen with fear, Sophie didn’t move. She couldn’t believe it. She never thought she would see Grace again.
Sophie’s panic became so overwhelming that within seconds, her water broke and she grabbed her belly.
“OH GOD!” Sophie screamed as she threw her face back in pain. She was going into labor.
Omg! Grace, now she’s EXTRA vulnerable! Go for it!

Wow! Rory! What a chapter! I really didn’t think Sophie would recognize her! What a cliff-hanger! Love the expressions.

I’m surprised she recognized her too. But I guess they were pretty close… before.

They were best friends. Grace had been tormented over Sophie for years. She would remember those eyes and that face anywhere. 😉

In Chapter 16 and 18 there is a current picture of Sophie getting married on the wall (totally making out at the altar) . Also, Grace has carried this face with her for years. She was pretty scarred by Sophie’s lie.

I was thinking the same thing! After all those years…

It’s so dramatic that she does remember–and that she feels so shocked! Shows that she feels remorse…

I thought hard about this one. And really, Sophie was Grace’s only real friend as a child. They were best friends. As an adult, I have run into childhood friends and instantly recognized them. For Grace, she has had years to reflect on Sophie, her memories with her, and what Sophie looked like. It helped that there were photos of a more recent Sophie in the loft that Grace is staying in. In Chapter 16 and 18, you can actually see a photo of Sophie getting married hanging on the wall.

I get why Grace recognized Sophie, she saw the photos, but I was surprised that Sophie recognized Grace immediately. Even with the dyed hair. I mostly have no idea how my sim children will look like as teenagers. 🙂

Writing from experience, I’ve recognized childhood friends from 5th grade and that was over 20 years ago. (Wow, showing my age here. 😉

I knew that Grace would recognize Sophie… it was Sophie recognizing Grace that surprised me! It seems believable–and very effective! I just wasn’t expecting it.

Time has passed but Grace never forgot what Sophie had done. She knew it was Sophie instantly. Never forgetting Sophie’s face and what she had done. She’s thought of Sophie everyday.

I think they mean they are surprised *Sophie* recognized *Grace*, but, like you said, they were friends before all this went down. I think I would recognize a close childhood friend even if it had been 10 years or so.

Ahhhhhh!!!!! I get it now! *forehead slap* Last year a childhood friend of mine I used to call, “Pickle Juice Ricky” came up to my husband and I in a restaurant. He instantly recognized me and even commented that it’s fitting that I would have bright blue hair. I would never forget this guy. He used to save pickle juice and drink it like it was a glass of water. Just chug it all in one sitting. Last time I saw him we were about 8 years old. I never thought that people would not recognize their childhood friends.

Wow, this was quite a vindication after seeing Grace’s perspective for so long… that Sophie apparently has been carrying around quite a bit of guilt, to react this way.

We see more of this guilt that Sophie carried in the next chapter as well. Thank you for commenting and for reading! I love your perspectives! 🙂
